Quadrupole shape invariants in the interacting boson model
نویسنده
چکیده
In terms of the Interacting Boson Model, shape invariants for the ground state, formed by quadrupole moments up to sixth order, are studied in the dynamical symmetry limits and over the whole structural range of the IBM-1. The results are related to the effective deformation parameters and their fluctuations in the geometrical model. New signatures that can distinguish vibrator and γ-soft rotor structures, and one that is related to shape coexistence, are identified. Typeset using REVTEX

Interacting Boson Model of Collective Octupole States
We discuss the problem of describing low-lying collective negative-parity states within the framework of the interacting boson model. We suggest that a simultaneous description of quadrupole and octupole states in nuclei be done in terms of the group U(16), which includes fand p-bosons in addition to the usual dand s-bosons. We analyze the dynamical symmetries associated with the rotational lim...
متن کاملDescription of superdeformed nuclei in the interacting boson model.
The interacting boson model is extended to describe the spectroscopy of superdeformed bands. Microscopic structure of the model in the second minimum is discussed and superdeformed bosons are introduced as the new building blocks. Solutions of a quadrupole Hamiltonian are implemented through the 1=N expansion method. E ects of the quadrupole parameters on dynamic moment of inertia and electric ...

متن کاملCritical-Point Structure in Finite Nuclei
Phase transitions associated with a change of shape are known to occur in dynamical systems such as nuclei. Recently, it has been recognized that such quantum shape-phase transitions are amenable to analytic descriptions at the critical points [1, 2]. For nuclei these analytic benchmarks of criticality were obtained in the geometric framework of a Bohr Hamiltonian for macroscopic quadrupole sha...
متن کاملOdd-even 147–153Pm isotopes within the neutron-proton interacting boson-fermion model
Low-lying energy states of the 147−153Pm isotopic chain are studied within the framework of the neutron-proton interacting boson-fermion model (IBFM-2). The spectra of these isotopes show a transition from a particle coupled to a vibrational core to a particle coupled to a deformed one. The calculation reproduces this behavior. In addition, reduced transition probabilities B(E2) and B(M1) and q...
